Filter Replacement and Maintenance in Cedar Hill
A filter only works while it is fresh. We change your cartridges, clean and sanitize the housings, check every seal and setting, and carry the old filters out with us. You get water that tastes right again and a floor that is as dry as we found it.
Keeping your system doing its job
Every filter in your home has a working life. Sediment cartridges load up with grit, carbon slowly uses up its ability to grab chlorine taste and odor, and reverse osmosis membranes lose output over time. Once a filter is spent, water can still flow through it, so many people don't notice until the taste changes or the pressure drops.
We handle the routine work so you don't have to wrestle a stuck housing over a bucket in the garage. We put down drop cloths and towels before anything opens, shut off and relieve the pressure, and keep the old water contained. When we leave, the old cartridges go with us and the space is wiped down.
We service the systems we install and most standard systems already in homes around Cedar Hill. If yours is unfamiliar, tell us the brand when you call and we will check parts before the visit.

What a maintenance visit includes
- 01
Fresh cartridges in the right size
We arrive with new sediment, carbon and specialty cartridges matched to your housings and their micron rating. That way the job gets finished in one trip, not two.
- 02
Housing cleaning and sanitizing
Grit settles and a thin film builds up in the bottom of an old housing. Each sump gets scrubbed out and sanitized, so your fresh cartridge isn't sitting in months of old buildup.
- 03
O-rings and seals
We inspect every O-ring, lubricate it with food-grade silicone and replace any that are flattened or cracked. Most slow drips start here.
- 04
Reverse osmosis checks
For under-sink reverse osmosis we change the pre and post filters, check storage tank pressure and look at membrane output to tell you whether it still has life left.
- 05
Softener and iron filter check
We check salt level and brine tank condition, confirm regeneration or backwash settings and look for bridged salt or a stuck valve.
- 06
Flush, leak test and cleanup
New carbon gets flushed so the first glass is clear, and we watch every connection under pressure before we pack up, wipe down and haul out the old filters.

Chlorine taste is back
If tap water starts tasting like a pool again, the carbon is likely used up. Taste is often the first clue.
Weaker flow at every tap
When a sediment cartridge packs full of grit, it chokes the supply for the entire house. You tend to feel it in the shower first, then notice the washer taking longer to fill.
Slow drinking water faucet
An under-sink system that takes much longer to fill a glass usually has tired pre-filters or a worn membrane.
Brown or gray cartridges
If you can see the filter through a clear housing and it has turned dark, it is full of trapped particles.
You can't remember the last change
No date on the housing and no idea when it was done means it is time. We label each housing with the change date so you will know next time.
How the visit runs
- 1
You give us a call
Let us know which systems are in your home and about when they were last serviced. We write down the brands so the right cartridges come with us.
- 2
We cover the work area
Drop cloths and towels go down, a bucket sits under every housing, and our shoe covers stay on the whole time we're inside.
- 3
Each system gets serviced
We turn off the water to each unit, release the pressure, swap the filters, clean the housings and put in new seals. If a part is cracked or worn, we show it to you and go over your choices before any added work.
- 4
Check, clean and wrap up
Water goes back on, we flush the lines, look for leaks and make sure flow is strong. After wiping down and hauling off the old filters and packaging, we recommend a practical date for your next change.
What affects the cost
Maintenance pricing comes down to how many systems you have and what they need. We go over what we expect when you call and write the parts and labor out by line before work starts, so nothing surprises you at the end.
- Number and type of systems
- A single under-sink unit takes less time and fewer parts than a whole-house carbon tank plus a softener and drinking water system.
- Cartridge type
- Basic sediment cartridges cost less than carbon block, specialty iron media or reverse osmosis membranes.
- Access
- A system in an open garage is quicker than one tucked behind cabinets or in a tight closet.
- Condition of the equipment
- Seized housings, cracked sumps or a failing valve add parts and time, and we will always tell you before replacing anything.
- Combining visits
- Servicing everything in one trip keeps travel and setup to a minimum.
Filter maintenance questions
How often do filters need changing?
That varies by cartridge type and by how much water your family runs through it. Sediment pre-filters tend to last a few months, carbon cartridges are usually swapped a few times a year, and reverse osmosis membranes often go a couple of years. Once we see your setup, we suggest a schedule built around your real use rather than a sticker on the box.
Can I change the filters myself?
Many people do, and we are happy to show you how. The usual trouble spots are stuck housings, pinched O-rings and skipping the sanitizing step. If you would rather not deal with the drips and the bucket, that is what we are here for.
Do you service systems you didn't install?
Yes, most standard brands. Give us the brand and model when you call, or describe the housings, and we will confirm we can get the right parts.
Will we lose water during the visit?
Only to the system we are working on, and usually for a short time. Whole-house work means the taps are off briefly while we change cartridges and flush.
What if you find a problem?
We show you what we found, explain whether a simple part will fix it or the unit is near the end of its life, and give you the cost before we do anything. If it points to a bigger water question, we may suggest water testing first.
